Joint Conference with the Republic of Korea’s
Institute
of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS )
On May 9, 2007, "the IFANS-SRC Joint Conference on Northeast Asian Regional Cooperation: Russia and Energy Factor" was held at the SRC. Participants from IFANS were as follows: Lee Ju Heum, Chancellor; Lee Seo Hang, Dean of Research; Kang Seon Jou, Director- General, Department of International Economy and Trade Studies; Ko Jae Nam, Professor, Department of European and African Studies; Kim Dok Ju, Associate Professor, Department of International Economy and Trade Studies; Choe Wongi, Assistant Professor, Department of International Economy and Trade Studies; Yoo Ji Seon, Research Assistant, Department of Asian and Pacific Studies
There were three sessions at the conference: Russia and Northeast Asian Regional Cooperation, Energy Cooperation in Northeast Asia and Issues in Northeast Asian Regional Cooperation. President of Hokkaido University, Saeki Hiroshi, hosted a lunch at Enreiso with the participants of the conference.
Recently, the SRC has had many seminars with Korean universities and institutes. This conference also contributed to deepening of mutual understanding and collaboration with Korean colleagues. From the SRC side, it was cosponsored by the 21st Century Center of Excellence program "Making a Discipline of Slavic Eurasian Studies."
