Announcing the 2nd Joint Forum on
“Nuclear Renaissance and the US-Japan Alliance: Finding New Markets and
Preventing Proliferation”
co-sponsored by the Brookings Institution and the Slavic Research
Center at Hokkaido University
A new found
interest in nuclear weapons and energy has been sparked by U.S.
President Obama’s proposal for a “world free of nuclear weapons.”
However, further discussions not only on global nuclear weapons
disarmament but also the peaceful use of nuclear energy must be
facilitated between the U.S. and Japan.
The joint forum will be featuring Slavic Research Center’s very own Dr.
Shoichi Ito, currently a visiting fellow at the Center for Northeast
Asian Policy Studies at Brookings, joined by other distinguished
experts and professors to discuss the “now” of nuclear policy of the
Obama and Hatoyama administration.
