[Event] 4th Border Studies Tokyo Seminar
[Event] 4th Border Studies Tokyo Seminar
ABS Japan Chapter officer, Fuminori Kawakubo (Chuo Gakuin University) will be hosting the 4th Border Studies Tokyo Seminar on July 2nd from 15pm to 18pm at Chuo University Surugadai Memorial Hall near Ochanomizu Station. Akihiro Iwashita will be delivering the keynote speech titled, "Border Studies Today" followed by ABS Japan chapter member Yukio Maeda (Soka University) who will present his work titled, "The Birth of International Society and Hollowing out Effect: Geopolitical Re-construction of Michel Foucault's Lectures".
This event will be hosted by UBRJ as well as co-hosted by ABS Japan Chapter and KUBS.

The Slavic Eurasian Research Center and the Graduate School of Public Policy at Hokkaido University are delighted to announce that the summer school on border studies (within the framework of the Hokkaido University Summer Institute) that will be hosted in Sapporo from July 25-29, 2016. The Slavic Eurasian Research Center has hosted the summer school on border studies in the past from 2010 to 2014 as part of the Global COE project "Reshaping Japan's Border Studies." This year's summer school will be hosted as part of the Hokkaido Summer Institute, which is a program that brings together distinguished scholars and our faculty members to provide an educational experience to students from across Japan and around the world. It will allow participants to expand their knowledge of subjects previously open only to students of the university.

NIHU Area Studies Project for Northeast Asia, Slavic-Eurasian Resarch Center, Hokkaido University will host the international symposium in Kitakyushu City, titled "There Goes the Neighborhood: Increasing Tensions in Cooperative Northeast Asia." The distinguished Northeastern Asian researchers from abroad will take part in the symposium. The following are some of the presenters: Yong-Chool Ha (University of Washington), T. J.
