2009–2010:
Six scholars have been selected as foreign fellows for 2009–10: Abashin, Sergey Nikolayevich (senior research fellow, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Russia), Danylenko, Andriy (lecturer, Modern Languages and Cultures Department, Pace University, USA), Finke, Michael Carl (professor, Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA), Gentes, Andrew Armand (Australian lecturer, School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics, University of Queensland, Australia), Kołodziejczyk, Dariusz Włodzimierz (associate professor, Institute of History, University of Warsaw, Poland), and Volkov, Vadim (professor, Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology, the European University at St. Petersburg, Russia).
- Abashin, Sergey Nikolayevich is a Russian specialist in ethnology. The title of his research project at the SRC will be "Oshoba: The Uzbek Community under Russian Rule." He will stay in Sapporo from June 1, 2009 through October 31, 2009.
- Danylenko, Andriy is a Ukrainian specialist in linguistics. The title of his research project at the SRC will be "The Bible in Russian- and Austrian-ruled Ukraine: Languages and Language Policies." He will stay in Sapporo from June 1, 2009 through August 31, 2009.
- Finke, Michael Carl is an American specialist in literature. The title of his research project at the SRC will be "Three Chekhovs." He will stay in Sapporo from December 15, 2009 through March 31, 2010.
- Gentes, Andrew Armand is an Australian specialist in history. The title of his research project at the SRC will be "The Sakhalin Penal Colony." He will stay in Sapporo from September 9, 2009 through February 28, 2010.
- Kołodziejczyk, Dariusz Włodzimierz is a Polish specialist in history. The title of his research project at the SRC will be "The Northern Black Sea as a Region of Contacts and Encounters." He will stay in Sapporo from June 1, 2009 through November 30, 2009.
- Volkov, Vadim is a Russian specialist in sociology. The title of his research project at the SRC will be "State-building in Russia after 2000." He will stay in Sapporo from December 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010.
