information services staff, left the SRC in March 1998.

- Mr. Matsuda worked 22 years at the SRC, greatly contributing
to the Center's development: He created the Nominal List of Researchers
in the Field of Slavic and East European Affairs, compiled "The
Reference Database on Slavic Studies in Japan," maintained the SRC's
computers, and assisted in the daily life of foreign visiting fellows.
- In April 1998 Mr. Matsuda moved to Sapporo University Women's
Junior College, where he teaches library and information science.
Sachiko YAMASHITA joined the library and
information services staff in September 1998.
- Born in Hokkaido in 1968, Ms. Yamashita graduated from the
College of Arts and Sciences, at the University of Tokyo. After
graduation, she worked at Chogin Systems Kaihatsu Ltd. for seven years,
and took part in the development of information systems in the
Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan.
- At the SRC she is in charge of managing on computer networks.
