Foreign Visitors Fellowship Program

2010–2011:

Six scholars have been selected as foreign fellows for 2010–11: Aalto, Pami (Jean Monnet professor, Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence, University of Tampere, Finland), Feng, Yujun (professor, Institute of Russian Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, China), Kuzio, Taras (senior fellow, chair of Ukrainian Studies, University of Toronto, Canada), Morrison, Alexander Stephen (lecturer, School of History, University of Liverpool, UK), Popovic, Ljudmila Valentin (professor, Slavic Department of the Philological Faculty, University of Belgrade, Serbia), and Vysokov, Mikhail Stanislavovich (professor, Russian History Department, Sakhalin State University, Russia).

• Aalto, Pami is a Finnish specialist in political science. The title of his research project at the SRC will be “Russia’s Energy Policy: National, Interregional and Global Dimensions.” He will stay in Sapporo from June 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010.


• Feng, Yujun is a Chinese specialist in political science. The title of his research project at the SRC will be “A Case Study of the BRICs: Feasibility, Methods and Implications of Building Cooperation Mechanisms among the Newly Emerging Powers.” He will stay in Sapporo from November 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.


• Kuzio, Taras is a British specialist in political science. The title of his research project at the SRC will be “Contemporary History of Ukraine.” He will stay in Sapporo from October 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.


• Morrison, Alexander Stephen is a British specialist in history. The title of his research project at the SRC will be “The Conquest of Central Asia in the Russian Official Mind.” He will stay in Sapporo from June 14, 2010 through October 30, 2010.


• Popovic, Ljudmila Valentin is a Serbian specialist in philology. The title of her research project at the SRC will be “Ukrainian Studies in Japan: The Image of Ukraine in Contemporary Japanese Culture.” She will stay in Sapporo from June 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010.


• Vysokov, Mikhail Stanislavovich is a Russian specialist in history. The title of his research project at the SRC will be “Russian Historiography of the History of the Russian Far East in the Years of ‘Perestroika’ and in the Post-Soviet Period.” He will stay in Sapporo from October 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.
